Irakli Chomakhashvili announces candidacy for the position of Chairman in the GBA elections
A lawyer announces their candidacy for the Georgian Bar Association chairmanship in December. They criticize the association's 8-year passivity, which has worsened lawyers' professional standing, and promise a new team to actively protect rights.

Greetings,
After long deliberation, and following the advice and support of many fellow lawyers, I have made the decision to run for the position of Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association in December.
My effort alone would not have been enough were it not for our team—a union of professional and successful lawyers who stand together for change and the strengthening of the profession.
Over the last eight years, it was possible to implement many important and successful projects; however, unfortunately, this did not happen.
The core value for a lawyer is the firm and unwavering protection of human rights. It is under this condition that it is essential for the Chairman of the Bar Association to be actively involved in protecting the rights of both lawyers and our citizens.
In recent years, our professional situation has clearly deteriorated in all aspects—relations with the court and state structures have become more complicated, and our profession is less perceived as one of the main pillars of democracy.
Unfortunately, the current situation is caused by the passivity of the Bar Association, which, willingly or unwillingly, has contributed to the deterioration of the rights of both lawyers and citizens.
Changing the current situation will be the main goal of our team.
I offer you a new team, a new vision, and a new stage of development.
We firmly believe that a strong Bar Association is the foundation for the development of democratic processes.
