A foreign citizen was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Tbilisi City Court for the illegal acquisition, possession, and facilitation of the sale of a large quantity of methadone. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the defendant placed the drugs in various locations for distribution.

Based on the evidence presented by the Prosecutor's Office, a defendant was sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and facilitation of the sale of a particularly large amount of a narcotic substance. The press service of the Prosecutor's Office has released this information.
As stated in the released information, the defendant stored a particularly large amount of the narcotic substance "Methadone" in his residential home and placed it at various locations for the purpose of sale.
"The Tbilisi City Court fully accepted the evidence presented by the Prosecutor's Office and found the defendant, a foreign citizen, guilty on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and facilitation of the sale of a particularly large amount of a narcotic substance.
Evidence examined during the court trial confirmed that the defendant illegally acquired and possessed a particularly large amount, 18.78684 grams, of the narcotic substance 'Methadone' (base), which he packaged into 29 bundles for the purpose of sale. He placed a portion of it at various locations in Tbilisi, while storing the remainder in his residential home.
The defendant was charged under Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph 'a' and Article 260(4), Part 6, Subparagraph 'a' of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal acquisition, possession, and facilitation of the sale of a particularly large amount of a narcotic substance).
The Tbilisi City Court found the defendant guilty of the charges presented and determined the type and measure of punishment to be 15 years of imprisonment," the statement reads.
