The Megi Bakradze Case: Vaccination, Investigation, and Family's Distrust
27-year-old nurse Megi Bakradze died in Akhaltsikhe from a suspected anaphylactic reaction after an AstraZeneca vaccination. The MIA launched an investigation, but the family distrusts it and plans an alternative autopsy. The case raises questions about potential flaws in the vaccination process and subsequent medical response.

On March 18, in the Akhaltsikhe clinic "Imedi," 10 people were registered to be vaccinated with the "AstraZeneca" coronavirus vaccine, including Megi Bakradze. The media was also present during the vaccination process. According to the doctors, her symptoms began approximately 30-40 minutes after the vaccination, while she was in the observation room. After her condition worsened, she was moved to the intensive care unit. At that time, it became known that her transfer to Tbilisi was planned, and a disaster response team had already been dispatched from Tbilisi. The first official comment on Megi Bakradze's condition and the possible causes was made at a Ministry of Health briefing at 17:30. The head of the National Center for Disease Control, Amiran Gamkrelidze, stated that the 27-year-old woman likely developed an anaphylactic reaction after the coronavirus vaccination. At the same briefing, Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia noted that an anaphylactic side effect of "AstraZeneca" has been recorded in 41 cases out of 5 million, but no country has stopped vaccination because of this. According to the doctors, the nurse immediately received all necessary procedures, including "medications prescribed by the protocol." A few hours after the suspected side effect appeared, the nurse was transferred by the disaster response team to the First University Clinic of the Tbilisi State Medical University, but it was not possible to save her.
Family members also say that the patient might have already been deceased during her transportation to Tbilisi. (Everything we (don't) know about the death of the 27-year-old nurse 23.03.2021, Sknews)
After the death of Megi Bakradze, the Ministry of Internal Affairs began an investigation. According to the agency, the investigation was launched under Article 116 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to negligent homicide. Law enforcement officers have already seized all necessary documents from the clinic, including the vial from which the deceased was vaccinated against coronavirus.
